Pear, Arugula and Prosciutto Grilled Cheese

The cheese withdrawals have kicked into high gear. No joke, I go to sleep dreaming about grilled cheese sandwiches, which is why I am posting this recipe. If I can’t eat it at least I can stare with longing.  I made this Pear, Arugula and Prosciutto Grilled Cheese last April for The Capitol Hill Times.  The arugula adds a peppery bite that is counterbalanced by the sweet pear.  You will never look at a regular old grilled cheese the same way again.  Since I love being miserable, there are a few links below to other just as scrumptious grilled cheese sandwiches I found around the internet.

  1. 2 thick slices of white bread
  2. 1 pear, cut into thin slices
  3. 3 pieces of prosciutto
  4. 2 slices of gouda
  5. Handful of arugula
  6. 1/2 teaspoon butter
  1. Preheat skillet over medium high. Butter one side of a slice of bread. Place bread butter side down onto skillet and add, gouda, pear, prosciutto and arugula. Butter a second slice of bread and place butter side up on top of sandwich. Grill until lightly browned.
